Arg. Saving Nwc. files halp!

Ok, so im at the www.thesuburbs.org.uk in the forum, transcriptions, attempting to save .nwc files of ben folds music. all there is to download it is a link, which apears as a .nwc file :

ei: dick_holster.nwc (link)

so i click on it, and the download comes up, "would you like to save or open..."

--> save.  Through this i have no choice or ability to alter the file type i am saving this as.

When i look at the properties of it once it is saved, it doesn't appear to be a .nwc file, and Note worthy composer thinks it is a "]" file (which makes no sence) and will not open it. I saved it under the name dick_holster, and did not add the character " ] " anywhere, ever. All i need is noteworthy to open the file, so i can convert it to a midi. i won't need to edit it or anything.

I know im probably dumb, and there is probably somthing obvious im missing, and it probably isn't note worthys fault at all, but i need help from somone,  it might as well be you :)

thanks - Laura

Could you give an exact link of the .nwc file you are trying to open?

Hay Laura, well are you opening the file by just clicking on the file or opening noteworthy first; going to “File” & “Open”.  I used to have the same problem with my windows 98 computer two years ago.

Hi Laura,
--> save. Through this i have no choice or ability to alter the file type i am saving this as.

Seems like you may have a Windows/IE problem - I vaguely recall seeing something like this before - may have been a browser hijack - I recommend that you do a good virus scan and a good spyware scan.

Can you change the name at all during the save process?  You should be able to.

In the meantime I'll try and remember when I've seen the problem before.

BTW, I found the site and the link and had no trouble - http://www.thesuburbs.org.uk/Board/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=1541.0;id=50

Well it shouldn't be doing that, of course. It's not your fault

But, you could try right clicking on the link at the website, choose "Save Target As" see if that works.

Also, the file you have downloaded, right click on it, choose "Rename" and rename it with a .nwc extension.
So, this file  dick_holster]  right click on it and rename it to dick_holster.nwc then try opening it again.

Hmmm.... Laura 1321412?
Did not know that there were that many Lauras around.
It must be the appealing sound of the name ;-)

yes.. definetly my phone number.. *cough*

ahhh no, a while ago i was signing up for some account, and laura was taken, and laura & any number i wanted, was also taken, but when you type in a name and its taken, the page gives sugestions on names that arn't being used, so i picked that one --> laura1321412 and eventually i memorized it really well, so i just put that as my user names now. cause its never chosen and i can type those numbers in about 1/18th of a second. ;)

1321412 BAM. haha

thanks again for your help guys. i was shocked when people had replyed like... within the next few hours. your totally awsome... probably..
