Transposing part of a staff

I recently started workin on a new song that starts out in the key of G which means there is an F sharp.  My problem is that I want key changes in the songs, and the original song that im rewriting from is in the key of G, but I want it in the key of C.  So baiscally what i want to know is how to transpose parts of the staff instead of the entire thing.  Ive tried highlighting then clicking transpose, but that doesn't work.
Please Help!

Copy the part you want to a new staff. Transpose, and copy back to the original staff.

Hi Christian,
I like Carls' answer better 'cos that way you get any accidentals that may occur without having to think about it.

Some prefer this method: Transpose the staff, highlight the section you want, Copy. Now: Undo! So really, nothing has happened to the score so far, but you do have what you want in the paste buffer. Go to the place (the end, probably) where you want it, and Paste.
It gives you a feeling that can be described either as 'Hey Presto' or 'Look at me, I'm the expert!', for a nice moment.

I also use Rob's (Reply 4) method.
It's very quick and easy.

I use both methods, depending on my mind.
In both cases, do not forget the "armature" (key signature) when you paste the transposed part...
