Guitar Chords

I would like to know if NWC could automatically add chord notations to scores from Cyberhymnal. - I don't have a great grasp of reading written music and would like a easy way to know when and how to add the correct Chord above the bar and lyrics.

write in the chord you want as text (using x)

NWC does not perform any kind of chord analysis on existing work. You would have to do this manually.
