Try the program AmazingMidi

http://www.pluto.dti.ne.jp/~araki/amazingmidi/

It will make an effort at transcribing a wav file to midi format.
(You can easily find tools to convert midi to wav)

AmazingMidi only works at all well if all of the input has the same tonal quality, so solo instruments have some chance of getting a good result, but recording with a combination of instruments will fail miserably. (The result can be interesting from a creative viewpoint, though!) As you appreciate, this process is a difficult one, and we must thank the author for making this tool available at no cost.
