What program are you using to access the newsgroup?  Outlook Express seems to work for me, and if you're using it, I'll try to explain how I got it going.

Before all that, though, you do have to be a registered user of NWC.  If you are registered, go here to sign up for the newsgroup.

AOL does seem to cause people frustration from time to time.  I can't offer any advice on how to work with AOL's system, but they probably have an online help feature.

I don't know how far you got with the signup procedure before getting those error message.  When I started out, I didn't have a clue what to do.  Someone told me to start with Outlook Express, open Tools/Accounts. This gave me a popup window that says Internet Accounts.  On the All tab, I just needed to click Add/News to start a connection wizard.

The next step is beyond my recall but maybe what I've just written will get you past your first stumbling block or two.

If that doesn't help perhaps someone else can come forward.

You should mention what operating system you're using when you ask for technical help, and which newsreader software you're trying.  If OE doesn't work, you could get GrabIt from http://www.shemes.com/.

GrabIt is different, but it seems to me it was easier to sign up a newsgroup with it rather than OE.

FYI: There hasn't been any legitimate looking attempts at newsgroup signup in the last 72 hours that have failed.
