Two Quick Questions....

Thanks Debo for your help to date.  Well I have finished my composition, just a couple of things bug me... 1.  When I play it back it doesnt do the coda and it plays tied notes  and 2.  I had to do my double ending twice so that the bar lines on the last line would be spaced evenly (I did the cont-E, force  thingy on the next bar).  Anyway round these?  Basically I am happy and find the programme user friendly.

Alison, I don't know how familiar you are with the program, so if I'm saying things you already know, please forgive me.

Coda.
(1)Normally you would have a "to coda" sign somewhere in your score.  (2)Then some bars later you will have "d.c. al coda" or "d.s. al coda."  (3)Immediately after this, you should have the coda sign itself.  (4)If you used d.s. al coda, then you need to have placed the "segno" somewhere before the "to coda" sign.  When the music plays as far as the d.c.al coda (or segno) sign, it jumps back to the beginning(or sign) and plays until the "to coda" direction, then jumps to the "coda" sign and plays to the ending.  Your problem is likely that you've forgotten to include one of those 4 elements.

Measures per line.
It may have confused you a little where Debo wrote "...need to do this on ONLY the top stave ..."  Just to clarify, the forced break only works on the first (i.e., top) active staff.  If you wanted to print just the left hand (lower) staff, then you'd need to put the forced break on it too.  It just won't do anything if the other staff is active too.

Just follow Debo's guidelines.  I would even out the number of bars a bit to keep the last line from looking wierd, by picking a point somewhere around the middle of the piece, and force a system break every 5 or 6 bars.

Beyond that there's not a lot you can do except "extend last system" from the page setup menu, but I don't usually like the result.

Hi David.... thank you for your answer.... I feel i pretty much copied a pro piece of music as was my goal but the last line was a bit of an issue, and I dealt to it the only way I saw possible.  I would be happy to email the piece I made (copied), would really enjoy some feedback, especially with regards spacing on the last line.  My email is spotlight@slingshot.co.nz email me and I will forward it to you.  Thank you for your advice.

Alie

Alison,
To prevent junkmail, I now use the old paint-method.
In your case, write your mail address as follows:
spotlightOLD@PAINTslingshot.co.nz
and tell friends to remove old paint before using the address.
This way, spam senders and such cannot find any address to send junkmail to.

Great idea, Rob.
Every time I posted my address in the past, I would get a flood of junk mail the next day.
Even when I don't post my address but post my real name, this still happens.
