Re: Braced Whole Notes, and Breath Marks Reply #1 – 2005-10-22 01:49 pm Regarding braced whole notes, for chant:This is not a menu selection, but it can easily be done. Keep in mind that there may be a difference between how notes look (printed) and how they sound (played). The braced whole note symbol appears in several of the user fonts that you can get from the "helpful files" section of the Scriptorium. (Link to Scriptorium is from top of NWC site.) You need to install the font, specify it as a user font in your NWC file, then place the desired symbol as a text item. You can find whole notes with a single line on each side, or with two lines on each side. When placed as a text item, the symbol is not really a note - it has no sound, and does not fill the measure in which you place it. So, you should also place a real whole note, and make it invisible, so that the notation remains aligned. If you also intend to play it (seems unlikely, for chant) then you would need to place hidden and tied real notes for several measures, and hide the intervening measure bars.As for breath mark: Try Insert Tempo Variation from the NWC menu. If that doesn't do what you want, you can always place a comma as text. Quote Selected
