Is there a way to force the number of bars per line ? And... 2004-12-04 01:50 pm I'd really like (for sake of clarity), be able to force the number of bars per line in a NW file (4, or 6, or whatever per line). Is it possible ?I searched in the manual, and in the program's menus, and did not find anything about it.----I also would like to number the bars on a n-frequency basis (for example, with 4 : 1, 5, 9,etc..)So far, I only found how to get them numbered at the beginning of each new line..Are those 2 things possible in NW, or not ?Because they seem to be very basic things for a notation software, I assume I probably missed something. Thanks in advance. Re: Is there a way to force the number of bars per line ? And... Reply #3 – 2004-12-04 05:57 pm As RdH noted, forcing the number of bars (measures) per line is not a feature. But in some cases, you can do it manually.First, you need to be sure that your page margins are wide enough, and your staff size is small enough, so that the desired number of measures will always fit. NWC won't "shrink to fit."You may wish to disable the feature that increases spacing according to note length. If you are using lyrics, be aware that a lot of extra horizontal spacing may be needed to accomodate your syllables, especially if you use a lyrics font size bigger than tiny.Once you get things small enough so that they CAN fit, you may then force them. On the topmost staff (if you have more than one), highlight the bars that you want to end each system. For the bar property, force system break. Also be sure that you choose to extend the final system to fill the page width.I have used the above approach for songs, in which the lyrics naturally fall into 4-measure phrases. I like to have an entire phrase per system. Quote Selected

Re: Is there a way to force the number of bars per line ? And... Reply #5 – 2004-12-05 12:34 pm Extending the last system is more or less obsolete. A much better effect is achieved by inserting a closing bar line (of suitable type) on the top staff and forcing a system break on it. This spreads the bars in the last system evenly across the page.
