Jazz notation 2004-10-15 04:58 pm Hi all !I wonder if there is a way to making Jazz notation schetches (if you know what I mean). I make a lot of schetches for guitar, bass, drums and keyboard where the is a lot of improvisation and only the theme is written with notes, everything else is just marked with a slash for each 1/4. Do anyone know a way to do this? It would be a plus if the drums could be written with x instead of a dot with a staple on it.If there is no way to do this it would be a suggestion to the developers to implement this very useful possibility in the program.RegardsRobert Quote Selected

Re: Jazz notation Reply #2 – 2004-10-16 05:47 am In version 1, I think you have to do it mostly as text:Insert Bar line(text -preserve width) "/ (some spaces) / (some spaces)/ (some spaces)/ (some spaces"(text -preserve width)some spacesBar linebut this doesn't seem to give the best result.Version 2 has x and invisible noteheads. Comping slashes can be created by first entering a quarter note with an invisible notehead and a stem length of 0, then placing a text entry just before it, using the forward slash / from your keyboard. Set the text properties to "at next note/bar" and left justification, and choose whatever font you like.If you want the slash with a note stem, do exactly the same, but leave the stem length at its default setting. Re: Jazz notation Reply #3 – 2004-10-16 07:58 pm I've created a font to use for lead sheets and jazz charts, with chord symbols, bar lines, slashes, and stuff. It doesn't have the x-head notes, though - for that you have to either download the Bongo font from the Scriptorioum or get version 2 of Noteworthy. One thing I've found, though, is that using custom fonts is a problem if you're sending I've sometimes done rhythm cues using regular noteheads on a muted staff that has 1 or 0 lines.Eamail me at "mcfarvan at hotmail dot com" if you want the font - put the word "noteworthy" in the subject or my spam filter might eat your message. Re: Jazz notation Reply #4 – 2004-10-17 06:03 am If you're sending with custom fonts, convert it to a pdf file with pdf995 or pdf creator( Both free downloads) then it will look and print correct at the other end.(It won't play though) Quote Selected
