Notation

I am trying to input a score which is in 4/4 time but adds up to 6 beats on the upper staff because of 2 crochet chords (I think they are called incidentals?) As the lower staff has the correct number of beats, the bar line doesn't align. Can anyone help? Thanks, Jan

Three possible solutions:

(1) Re-define your "incidental" notes as grace notes.

(2) In some cases, you can place notes as text items, rather than as real notes. They won't sound, but will appear. The NWCV15 font that came with your program is probably not best for this purpose. Look in the Scriptorium for some fonts with pre-made notes. If your application is to give lead-in notes (notes that appeared elsewhere in the score, and are a reminder for someone flipping the page), this may be the best approach.

(3) You can add extra notes or rests to the shorter measure, then set their properties not to show or sound.
