Lyricist/composer info

In the post about fonts, Blair said
"The text is tied to a note position, so it can be placed
anywhere on a staff (or above or below it). I never thought of placing it anywhere
on the page. Maybe I could use it to put author information
at the top left corner of the page, like most songs do and
I wish Noteworthy supported. Good idea, I should try this!"

This raises a small issue for me. As far as I can see, we should be able to have the lyricist on the left, (translator underneath), and the composer on the right (arranger underneath). I would be very pleased to have this sort of generalised ability.

It's off to the wish list for me.

Hey Guys, WAIT!

NoteWorthy has already got something MUCH better than adding the feature to stick text wherever you like.

What you do is get a program like Word, etc, that can import the metafile format from the clipboard.

Make a template with your title, and copyright info, etc, and leave a big space for the music.

Go to Print Preview in NoteWorthy, Click the copy button, tab over to your program, paste it, and Wacko, it's done.

Did you like my idea?! Please see if you can use anything on our website:

Let me know how my template idea goes.

David.

I tried adding author information on the left side using the
Insert Text facility. It seems to work. I use the Page Text
font, and place it at the beginning of the staff (Preserve
Width turned off). I have to scroll it off the screen, but
can get at it by doing Home, Shift-arrow (to select it) and
Ctrl-E to edit it. I have to go back and forth between
Print Preview and Ctrl-E to get it right. I think I will
add this to the tip page. Yes, your wish would be a lot nicer!

As for pasting into Word - I assume you leave title and author
fields blank. There is a problem with margins, so you would
have to do all the pages in Word to make it look consistant.
If all you want is a line of text at the left, my suggestion
is a little easier, especially if you don't have Word or
something like it.

The ability to copy notation onto the Clipboard from the Page Preview screen of NoteWorthy Composer is a great feature, one which is present only other, very expensive notation software. Bravo for that.

Furthermore, this ability would allow a fix to any sort of shortcomings which NoteWorthy Composer may have in regards to certain aspects of notation. The inability to add trills and hairpins ("<" and ">") can indeed be overcome by using Microsoft Word, Adobe PageMaker, and other WP/DP programs. However, perhaps some of these shortcomings can be addressed within the NoteWorthy Composer software itself.
