Extigy and Cakewalk Home Studio 2002

I wondered if anyone has run into this issue. I have an Extigy and I'm using CHS 2002. Before the Extigy and Windows XP, the program worked fine with my old midi interface (I didn't have XP drivers for it). Now I can't get it to record midi correctly. I will play a passage on my keyboard, and it will not play back correctly. Timing off. Missing notes. Has anyone had this problem? Is it the settings in Cakewalk or is it the Extigy?

I have just set up the extigy on the hp pavilion with windows xp and prerecorded things sound awful and it keeps alarming with the message that its not recognizing either the pavilion sound card or extigy. I will keep looking.
