instrument problems

I have only had Noteworthy for a couple of days and have bought the registered version. I am havinga problem in that once I have chosen an instrument for a stave of music, if I want to change the instrument, the program will not allow it and remains on the initial choice. ANyone have any ideas as to how I can overcome this or why it is happening? Many thanks in advance.

What do you mean by "if I want to change the instrument, the program will not allow it" in your post?

Each staff should be using its own MIDI channel. You can change the initial instrument for a staff using Staff Properties (F2). You can insert instrument changes directly in the staff using Insert | Instrument Patch (I). You can make sure that your current staff is using its own unique MIDI channel using Tools | Score Review (R).

Thanks for your advice. I checked all the points you mentioned but nothing worked until I checked the box for echoing a midi device (or something along those lines!). It now works fine.
