No midi playback in SB Live! 5.1?

I get no midi playback in my sb live 5.1 in both: win98 and winxp.I though at least win98 would have it enabled since it have dos drivers, but when i install the drivers there appear a text saying: sbinit error can`t find default.ecw midi playback disabled or something like that. Can anyone can help me?.I download a program called SoundFX that is a emulator for sound blaster for getting sound midi and wave in a dos box but it only works in XP and for 3minutes. Does anyone know another emulator for windows 98? Thanks!
