Win XP vs. Win 95______instrument quality change 2003-01-06 06:38 am I first had NWC installed on a computer running Win 95 @120 Mhz with 32 meg of ram, and the quality was not bad. Now I have Win XP @ 1.4 gig with 256 meg of ram, and the sound quality is fairly bad! I know that some of the older 16 bit programs were written on slower computers, so you therefore had to run a patch to slow down the newer computers, otherwise timing loops would execute too fast. Is there something similar that would help with the new 'puter? Also, does anyone know what kind of platform NWC was written on? Thanx in advance. Quote Selected

Re: Win XP vs. Win 95______instrument quality change Reply #3 – 2003-01-06 05:26 pm NWC has nothing to do with the sound quality of instruments, which is dependent on your midi wavetable, or soundfonts. Your OS change caused a change in your MIDI device. Even if you kept your old sound card, WinXP comes with Microsoft GS Synthesizer, based on Roland GS, and uses it as the default MIDI device. You can go to Tools | Options | MIDI in NWC to see (and change) which of the MIDI devices available in your system are used and which one is the first.Hope that clarifies and helps.
