Newsgroup access

When I click on Newsgroup in the forum I get the reply "Internet Explorer cannot open this helper application for news........the protocol specified in the address is not valid". Is there any way round this?

Check the program tab in IE's View|Options.
What is your newsreader there? I found that when it was Forte's Agent, it didn't work, but when I made it Internet News, things worked fine.
If it still doesn't work after Internet News is selected and sorted out, then maybe you're ISP won't allow news messages to other than its own newshost. If you are using Agent, it can be configured to read news from multiple hosts (though it's a little messay to set up).

Thanks Andrew. I am using Compuserve so I have no direct control over Explorer.
