My sound has gone ..

Help! It used to play back just fine, devices installed look ok, sound working just fine on the computer, all my other programs work ok, I checked out the faq to no avail,  I think I may have a program conflict, has anyone else come across this problem?  Would re-installing nwc help?

Reinstalling will rarely, if ever, help in these cases.

The most likely reasons for your problem:

  • The volume is down on your speakers
  • The volume is down for your MIDI device in the system's volume control
  • You have selected the wrong device in Tools | Options | MIDI (the MIDI Mapper device is the best first choice)

I had a problem that my sound went after I installed other music composing programs.  Generally I'd just have to shut down the other programs or re-start my computer without opening up the other programs when turning it back on again.
