Use of Laptop Speaker

I would like to take NWC on the road with my laptop but do not have any midi capability. Can I get NWC to playback through the PC speaker in order to do rough layouts?

I haven't heard of a MIDI PC Speaker driver, however, there is a PC Speaker Driver that supports 8-bit 11KHz wav files. You could download that (for windows, by the way) from Microsoft Software Library, or search for it, and install it. Then, download WAVMaker for Windows 2.5 which will convert MIDI files to WAV files.

The process you would go through is to export to a MIDI file from NWC, then convert it to a wav file with the appropriate settings, then listen to it through PC Speaker. Note: If you use Sound Rec., it will only load files that are "so" big, based on your amount of RAM.

WAVMaker can be found at www.shareware.com, search for it under win3.1 or win95.

No a PC speaker is not meant to produce sounds from a midi device. You need an external sound device e.g. the Yamaha MU10. This functions on the serial port of your laptop and works fine.

there is a midi speaker driver called midext.it sounds terrible but it allows making notations in noteworthy player
(for example) of any given midi files. it just makes mono pc speaker bleeps.
