Note stem width

Is there any way to stop Noteworthy from printing note stems with like only a hairline width? This is something that has been annoying me for ages but I have kept to myself. I would love to be able to set the width of the note stems to half a point or several points (depending on the size). I usually print out at about point size 24, and the note stems look hairline. I use a deskjet printer. I have the same problem on laser printers but it is a little more bearable because there's more contrast.

Let me also say that Noteworthy is just great. I have never had it crash in all the years I have been using it. Which is more than I can say for the $x,000 applications at work which fail regularly.

Thanks all, hope you have had a great year. I haven't been on for over a year, since I haven't needed any help! Just make note stem width settable for me! ;-)

Dear Arovo,

At that size it may appear a little thin indeed. But why on earth do you need to print it so big? I usually print in 17 or 18 maximum (choir), sometimes 14 or 15 (piano printing).
Currently I don't see any wat to specify the width of note stems; but if you want to "officially" wish it, better go at the wish list (here) and express it there.
Is there any reason why you need to print at such a size? If it is because lyrics are too small, you can specify their size without changing the staff size (go to menu _F_ile|Pa_g_e Setup, Fonts tab).

This looks like a rather symple job for those who have a font editor (?) Just replace the old font with the modified one.

The note stems (as well as slurs, ties, and barlines) are drawn objects rather than font objects.

One possible approach might be to Copy to metafile, then use an image editor such as Paint Shop Pro, which contains various filters to post-process the image.

Probably the best would be to suggest a user-selectable stem width to the "wishlist". Many of the features we now take for granted were originally requested by users, as the "Wishes Granted" list demonstrates.

Thanks guys.

Hey Marsu, I've been notating a lot of songs this year and the template I've worked out for them (am writing a songbook with leadsheets in the jazz format - lyrics, melody and chords) works nicely at around 22-24 points. fits about 32 bars on page, with lyrics. and I know about the font sizes tab - been using that to print out the lyrics in my own font. I've been printing the piano arrangements smaller tho. I'll patch the NWC update too - thanks for the reminder.

I'm with you Franman, if somebody can make a new version of the jazz font and standard font, that would be fantastic.

and Fred, I think the wish-list is the way to go... let's all ask for it!

Thanks again!
