Spacing problem

I'm not a good scores "reader", but most musicians that I know, which can read music and execute it instantaneously, have big problems with some scores that I print using NoteWorthy Composer.

Here is the problem, explained with one bar on two staves
(in 4/4):
- 1st staff: four 8th notes followed by two quarter notes.
- 2nd staff: almost the same, but the first two 8th are replaced by one dotted 8th followed by two 32ths.

The problem is that the space which follows each 32th note is the same that the space which follows most 8th note, and nearly the same than the space which follows the quarter notes.

The even bigger problem is on the first staff: now, the space which follows the second 8th is *much bigger* than the space which follows the quarter notes on the same bar. For accustomed readers, this is a real pain because they think that there is a quarter rest between the second and the third 8th notes.

Please note that checking or unchecking the option "increase note spacing for longer durations" doesn't help at all.

Please help me !

I see your problem. Make a third staff that is hidden containing all 32nd notes. Make them fill up the measure. This forces the eighth notes to be spaced evenly as well as the quarter notes because they are spaced according to how much room all the 32nd notes take up under each note. Good luck and if you need more help e-mail at the above link. This message was translated at Dictionary.com

Thank you for your response. I will try it tonight, but I trust that it will work. Why didn't I think to that before?

Thank you also for the « french » translation which is very funny for some words. Automatic translation is an inexhaustible source of joy. I hope my manual translations into an approximate english are also for you a source of joy!

Thank you again, FranMan. I doesn't work exactly as you said (with a completely hidden staff), by it works with a layered staff containing hidden notes or rests. Also, sometimes adding space before a note may help.

Anyway, it works now.
