If you are thinking about buying, go a "Live" or "Live Value", depending upon your budget. I got an AWE gold once and promptly resold it. The "Live", however, is a good card.

The AWE-64 Gold has gold-plated RCA stereo outputs, S/PDIF output capability, and 4MB of RAM on the card. I purchased the E-Mu music creation package that included the card, cables, and software including Cakewalk. This was a good purchase at the time, although there is no question that the Live! value is superior to this card, even though it lacks the gold-plating. However, if ISA is a must, the argument is moot.

The AWE-64 Gold allows you to expand the on-board memory to something like 28 MB. You need another 4MB (about $40) to match the SB Live! factory-supplied soundfont ability. Of course, the Live! allows much larger soundfonts to be downloaded and used.
