Selecting an existing dynamic

How do you select a dynamic? I can insert them but once I've moved on with my composition, I can't figure out how to go back and select the already-inserted "cres." in order to move it, delete it, etc. I'm sure it's simple, but it is eluding me.

Ditto with inserted text, etc. The only thing I can select are notes & rests.

Thanks,
Beverley

Hi!

I almost believe that you either have a malfunctioning version of Noteworthy, or you have an old one!

Dynamics - and everything else - are selected the SAME WAY as the notes and rests! I know for a fact that with the keyboard, it's easier than with the mouse; when selected, anything can be moved vertically by holding Ctrl and Shift, simultaneously with the vertical arrows!

Now it THIS doesn't work, it's not you; it's your software or your computer!

P.S.: have you tried the font with all the ornaments, and the Crescendo font? I usually put the built-in cresc, put it never visible, then place a graphic Crescendo; makes really neat charts, and it plays it on MIDI, too!

Here's a guess: you're running into trouble with items whose "preserve width" attribute is OFF. You can't select items like this by highlighting them directly; instead you select their "handle", which is in the form of a little gray diamond. If you select the appropriate diamond, you can do anything with the item that you want to, including editing its properties, or deleting it entirely.

One thing to try is to place your cursor in about the right spot and then, holding down the shift key, press the right-arrow or left-arrow key. This will select the next available item, which you can edit (<Ctrl>-e) to see if it's the one you want. If not, unselect the item by pressing the arrow key again (without shift), then select the next item (<shift>-arrow), edit it (<Ctrl>-e), and so on.

Right you are - I did not have preserve width on. I figured the diamond had something to do with it, but I was clicking, right clicking, double clicking, etc on it. I did try selecting it once, but obviously missed or something.

It's working great now, thanks!
