Copy and Paste score to send E-mail.

I'm a new NoteWorthy Composer user. Is there a way to copy/ paste your score/piece so you can send it via E-mail. I use Microsofts Outlook Express a offline E-mail program. Have tried the copy command but doesn't seem to work. What am I doing wrong.

I would appreciate any tips that may be helpful.

Many topics related to this have been posted ad nauseum. See https://forum.noteworthycomposer.com/?topic=1491 for the latest. I think for your purposes, copy and paste into Word (assuming you have Word 97 or later). I don't use Outlook, but I'm sure it can email a word document.

By the way - you'll have to C/P each page of your score 1 page at a time from the Print Preview option

The piece that I have written I can copy it to Windows/ clipboard. Went into Assessories in Windows to view what I had saved. I tried to save it so I could send it as a attachment in my E-mail program. I can attach the Midi to E-mail with no problem. My Word Processor is Microsoft Works, haven't been able to copy and paste it there either. This piece that I am working on I would like to send it to a family member via E-mail but it looks like it can't be done.

Could you explain what a WMF file is?

The way I've done it is to use the Print Preview "Copy" option to copy to the Windows clipboard. Then open Word (I have an older version, V6.0). Use Edit --> Paste, and the image of the page appears. Click on the image, and a scroll box appears. Now you can click-and-drag the image at the click points in order to fill the page (or proportion it any way you like). Unless your version of Works is /very/ old, it should work similarly.

As I understand it (or perhaps misunderstand it), a wmf file is essentially the same thing, except that the data is saved to disk as a *.wmf file instead of just copied to the clipboard. Such a file can then be imported into Word or other microsoft apps.

If your family member is also using Windows, another alternative is to simply send the NWC file, and refer your family member to the freeware NoteWorthy Player program. This way, they can see and hear your work.

A WMF contains visual drawing information (text, graphics). It is not a music file. That is, it is not like MIDI. So matter how you send a WMF and no matter what your friend at the receiving end does with it, it cannot be "played" as music.

See the above comment regarding NWC files and Noteworthy Player

After I copied my score to clipboard. I was able to get it into my word processor and was able to send it. Sent it to myself to see if it worked. I did send NWC file to a family member and the web site so she could download the program.

I did something similar.
I had written a manual for NWC v1.3 then updated it for v1.5.
When I posted it off for inclusion on the Scriptorium the same problem occured.
What had happened was the original manual used wmf's created from v1.3 and they looked OK because the NWCv13.ttf was still installed on my system along with the NWCv15.ttf so everthing looked alright at my end but when Fred and Andrew opened the files - garbage.
Thta was I redo I didn't anticipate!

FYI: All old version NWC named fonts are available from our FTP site:

ftp.noteworthysoftware.com

We make all the older fonts available for just this reason (to support older WMF files that used them).

Unless you have a very old version, MS Word allows font embedding. I'll bet you didn't know that (I didn't). I imagine that there are other word processing programs that do likewise (certainly, that's the whole point of using PDF files rather than .doc files).

Whether or not your E-mail program would correctly send and receive a Word document with embedded fonts is anyone's guess.

Yeah, well, there's one thing with the .WMF files and MS Word Processor, based on a true story! Here it is:

I had to send my boss on board a ship a part of Moonlight Serenade I arranged for him; no harm there, even if he's 4000 miles from me, I'll E-Mail it to him! So I did copy it into .WMF - 3 pages, 3 files - and sent it!

He replies to me that he received the file, but once opened, he got a lot of letters instead of notes! HE DIDN'T HAVE THE FONT ON HIS COMPUTER!!!

So if you need to E-Mail charts or parts and decide to do it via a Word document, make sure he's got Noteworthy Player OR Composer installed, or they'll receive gibberish!
