How can I add phrase marks above the music??

I am wanting to add a phrase mark above (or below) a section of music, and I was wondering if anyone knew how to do this?

If this can be done... is it also possible to add different phrase marks to different parts (i.e. the soprano phrase and the bass phrase starting and finishing at different points)??

... I am also wanting to know how I can move a phrase mark from above to below the music, and vice versa, or can I not change this?

By phrase mark, I'm assuming you mean slurs. Highlight all but the last note of the group you want slurred, and press ; (semicolon), or use the slur tool in the toolbar. Note that this is NOT the same as a tie, which is / on the keyboard; a tie will tie two notes of the same pitch into a single longer note, whereas a slur will give a more legato effect.

In V1.55b of NWC you have no control over the slur direction; it takes the direction defined by the note stem direction of the first note in the group. However, in V1.70 (presently in beta) you can force the slur (or ties, for that matter) in either direction.

For independent slurs on two voices on the same staff, use the layering feature to visually combine two independent voices onto a single staff.

You say that you can "force" the slur in either direction, regardless of the stems being up or down, in v.1.7 (beta), but how do you do this?? I have downloaded this new version, but still cannot solve my problem.

If you select the first note of the slurred group for edit, you should see a "Notation Properties" dialog box with a tab marked "Notes". Select this tab and then choose "Upward" from the "Slur Direction" list box.

Note that changing the "Slur Direction" property on any of the other notes in the group will have no effect.
