Do I give up now? 1999-07-20 04:00 am Okay, I searched and searched. I practically read the entire off-line forum. I still can't figure it out! And, I know it can be done, but how??What? Oh, I suppose I should tell you my problem. <hehe> This here piece of music has a tie that crosses several bars. There are intervening measures that have a note on the same line/space. I want to ignore those notes and only tie the two notes that are supposed to be tied. How do I get NWC to ignore the notes in between?? help?Thanking you in advance -Michael Quote Selected
Re: Do I give up now? Reply #1 – 1999-07-20 04:00 am What you have is a slur, not a tie. A tie can't possibly go past another note of the same pitch. Enter slurs by selecting all but the last note of the group you want slurred, then press ; (semicolon key). Quote Selected
Re: Do I give up now? Reply #2 – 1999-07-20 04:00 am You must be thinking of a slur (keyboard rather than a tie (kbd /). What you describe makes no musical sense since a tie implies that the note is continuous throughout its duration over the written notes and therefore there must be a note filling the bar in each bar over which the tie continues. That said, it does make sense that there should be an extra note at the same pitch in an intervening bar if the note is to be restruck while being sustained, but only a few instruments can do that :<) Quote Selected
Re: Do I give up now? Reply #3 – 1999-07-20 04:00 am Oh, well, it appears that yours truly has done it again! Once again I leapt without looking for the soft landing. THUD! If I had merely read the difference between a tie and a slur, I wouldn't have wounded my ego again. SIGH Thank you folks very much for setting me on the 'write' path.Slighty bleeding,Michael Quote Selected
