I've been trying to set some service music for my church. The form is sort of call-and-response, with the minister and congregation singing alternate phrases. Some of the phrases are quite short, and I'd like each phrase to be on a separate system. I can do this using "Force System Break", but I don't want to right-justify each system. I think in word processing you'd call this "ragged right margin". I can get the behavior I want on the last system by un-checking "Extend last system" in "Page Setup", but is there a way to have Noteworthy 2.5.5 produce this effect on every systems?
One thing I've tried was to set the outside margin to a large value (5 inches worked for me). When I did this, short phrases broke at the 5-inch margin and longer ones extended into the margin, giving the result I'm looking for. I'm a little hesitant to rely on this, however, as it seems to be the kind of thing that might disappear in a future release.
You might take a look at VirtualMIDISynth (google it!). It's easy to install and I've found it runs well even on relatively low-power systems. You'll need to download a soundfont (I like Arachno) and configure VirtualMIDISynth to use it. Tell Noteworthy Composer to use it (Tools -> Options -> Midi and you should be well on your way.
