General Discussion / Re: Quintuplets
My personal workaround for this is now a little better: I halve the length of all the notes in the quintuplet and then dot the first, double dot the second, dot the third and so on. The bar length is correct and I defy anyone to tell the difference from a genuine quintuplet. However, though it sounds quite good it looks dreadful on the printed score!

I'm trying to use the "instrument change" technique. Thanks for that

But it shifts the notes along to make room for the name of the instrument (even though I have set it as invisible)

(later) I see it won't when printed though....

Thanks but I'm not brave enough to try that! It doesn't sound too bad as it is: and the music isn't exactly Mozart quality.
I take my hat off to those who invent these workarounds though.

General Discussion / Re: arpeggios
I'll agree that is remarkable value for money. I personally would pay more, especially if these minor imperfections were fixed. Having got so far, it's a shame the last 2% of the work isn't done.
Anyhow, having lots of fun with it in my olde age!

Well, I have fudged it, using 16, 32, 16, 32, 16  (16 = 1/16th note duration &c)

Doesn't sound too bad I suppose! Playing it would be pretty hard for a poor player like me.

Another moan, and you must be getting  tired of me.
I see the subject of quintuplets (and n-tuplets) has been much worked over. I can't see any reasonable workaround.
Why oh why did I try to set "The Robin's Return" ?

General Discussion / Re: arpeggios
I'm afraid I'm only interested in results, not in trying workarounds, and I dare say that applies to most people. I don't play chess or bridge either.
Yes, Sibelius is more expensive (my grandchildren use it !) but the NWC programmers have had plenty of time since the last version was released to tackle some of these niggling things. Then NWC might offer more real competition.

Thank you for those suggestions. My attitude is the same as that about an "8va command"
When we pay for a program like this why should we have to spend time doing things in a roundabout way? I hope that the next version will allow simple arpeggionisation (!). I am entering a piano solo which uses the non-existent command dozens of times: a Victorian parlour piece which I hope to post in the scriptorium.

Thank you for those suggestions.
But when we pay for a program like this why should we have to spend time doing things in a roundabout way? I hope that the next version will incorporate an 8va button as I suggested. I am entering a piano piece which uses the non-existent command a dozen times or more.

And now I need to put in a number of arpeggios. Isn't there a simple way of doing that?

General Discussion / setting 8va in parts of a score
I have searched this forum and can only find various complicated ways of setting 8va sections in a piano score.
Is this really right? I have the latest version of NWC, 2.1

I would have thought that all one should need to do is to select the notes concerned and click on a "8va" button, or something equally simple.
Am I missing the obvious?
