General Discussion / Re: Script Programming Reference
Thanks guys! It's too geeky even for someone like me who's been writing software for decades! I was hoping to create some tools to make scoring for my Garritan Personal Orchestra somewhat easier (mod-wheels on the control staff, etc.). Life's too short to spend my "time off" groping around blindly trying to write software - I get enough of that trying to write macros for Microsoft Powerpoint. That's what we call a "busman's holiday". It may be a pain but I'll muddle through with the standard tools. By the way, I can heartily recommend the sound rendering from the Garritan PO.

General Discussion / Script Programming Reference
Can anyone give me a straight answer to whether or not there is any kind of reference material available that will allow me to begin scripting user tools without having to "decompile" existing scripts? I frequently programme with PHP but I'm darned if I can make head or tail of what's going on. Surely Noteworthy hasn't launched this just a a piece of "geekery" - you know you're in the know when you know that everyone knows that you know how to know the stuff (but for heaven's sake, don't tell anyone who doesn't know what it is that you know).
HELP!

General Discussion / Re: Garritan Personal Orchestra & Noteworthy
Thanks Garry. Yes, I'd seen that. Right now I've got bigger fish to fry. I can't get any sound from the GPO via Noteworthy! This afternoon it was all working and now it's gone Tango Uniform. I've re-installed my Midi-Yoke, I can play the sounds using Kontakt Player, but that's it! Aaaggghhhh!

General Discussion / Garritan Personal Orchestra & Noteworthy
Just for the record - and anyone else who is thinking about using GPO with Noteworthy - I have, at least sorted out what software is needed to begin to get this to work.

I bought GPO Version 3.0, which ships with Kontakt Player 2 (KP2). If you do similarly, DO NOT follow advice posted elsewhere in the forums that tells you to download and install Garritan Personal Studio. IT DOES NOT WORK with KP2. All you will get is an annoying error message every time you try to open Studio. Instead, you need to download and install a piece of freeware called Midi-yoke.

Now you should be able to use KP2 to assign GPO instruments to the various MIDI channels, and Midi-Yoke will be visible as a MIDI-out option in Noteworthy.

Now all I've got to do is get to grips with selecting and controlling the GPO instruments!! Anyone got any good tips to save me re-inventing the wheel?

General Discussion / Soundfonts - again!
I've read the stuff on soundcards, soundfonts, etc. because I am, like so many others, trying to find some "decent" synthesis of orchestral instruments that can be worked by Noteworthy. To date, I haven't managed to find a soundfont that cuts the mustard. My interest is in standard orchestral instruments - solo and ensemble. Can anyone recommend a readily available soundfont for my Creative SB Live! card that will blow my socks off?

Also, I note that some others, like me, have asked about an interface into VST instruments. From demos that I've heard hither and yon, VST instruments seem to be capable of better "quality" ("truer") sound than can be squeezed out of SB2 soundfonts. Does anyone have any comment on that assertion? Also, does anyone know of a Noteworthy compatible driver (for Windows XP) that would allow me to use one of the high quality VST sound packs?

I'm a great fan of Noteworthy, which I've used for several years. I originally got it because it was inexpensive; quickly found it to be an excellent product; and have used it ever since. I'd gladly pay more for a version of Noteworthy that opened up the possibility of better instrument synthesis.

Thanks.
