General Discussion / Re: Wish: VSTi support
Thanks a lot for the tips provided!!! (both the keyboard macros and the ticks bars are good suggestions -and wow, thanks a lot for your time drawing those example pics- )

Anyway, I still insist in my wish: Please add VST host support to NWC (and preferably not just VSTi host, but also VST MIDI effects plugins host -because Symphonic Choirs' WordBuilder isn't a VSTI, but a VST MIDI Effect).

The problem with MiniHost is that you have to manually press the "rec" button in order to record a WAV. This is a total disaster if you need to generate a different WAV for each staff (I need to dump different audio files, for soprano, alto, tenor, and bass), because recording starts when you press the button, so the audio files you get are out of sync and cannot be mixed with audio processing apps.

General Discussion / Wish: VSTi support
Just in case it's of any help for the development of NWC2, I'd like to say that the only feature that I miss in NWC is VSTi support.

In short: If NWC had VSTi support, it would be my perfect, complete, music solution.

Yes, I currently export MIDI files from NWC and import them into an VSTi host, but that's annoying, uncomfortable, and prone to incompatibilites in some situations.

And most important of all: Previewing the music from NWC, using MIDI sound, is very unaccurate for me, and usually is of little help to know if the music will sound well when rendered with the VSTi host, because the sheet music I do is choral music, and I use choir sample libraries (created by sampling all semitones from a real choir). Choir samples are usually very affected by note length, expression, etc, so I'd really need a preview from NWC, in order to see if I have to tune the expression or change some lengths, etc...

Yes, I know, I can do tricks like MIDI loopback, but it's very challenging when you need to install these virtual MIDI tools: Getting all to work fine is a hard task, at least for me.

I'd like to add that NWC is my favourite music notation app: I prefer it a lot rather than Sibelius or Finale, because it's more intuitive, and it always works as expected.

General Discussion / Master repeat, more than twice
I'm just a beginner in music notation, and I found that some of the printed music that I've uses what NWC calls "master repeats" for repeating the whole song more than twice (for example with 3 lyrics verses). But if I use "master repeats", the song is played just twice.

Must I use "local repeats" for doing this in NWC, or can I use master repeats with a count >2  ?

General Discussion / Re: Any suggestion for sending NWC music to an VSTi?
Thanks for all your comments. Yes, what I'm looking for is a (hopefully free, or at least low-cost) VST host that will allow me to record the output as audio without needing to manually press a "rec button".

Regarding computer horsepower, I've tried several free vst samplers with MiniHost, and my computer performs well, so no problem there.

General Discussion / Any suggestion for sending NWC music to an VSTi?
Hi (I'm new to the forum --I'm evaluating NWC-- )

I'd like to use an VSTi sampler for playing (and recording) the music I create with NWC.

I know NoteWorthy doesn't support VSTi directly, but do you know of some free (or low cost) solution which would me allow to do it?

I tried two free VST hosts that can open MIDI files and send them to a VSTi while recording the result to an audio file: Cantabile (but causes a kernel panic in my laptop on XP!!) and TobyBear MiniHost (great app, but sometimes doesn't honor the tempo I set in Noteworthy, and also you've to push "rec" and "stop" buttons for recording the audio, so it's not 100% useful if you need exact sync of several audio tracks -I'll use Audacity for mixing several audio tracks, so I need exact sync at the start of the music).

Do you have any suggestions?

(It's surprising that music notation apps lack VSTi support... even Finale and Sibelius don't support it... they assume the limited Kontakt player they provide will satisfy all users, and that's not the case at all)
