What to do about recent illiterate forum posts

When kiddies arrive on the forum,
It rapidly loses decorum.
And thus I propose
A punch in the nose,
Or lacking that, simply ignore 'em.

  • Even if I agreed with Proposal #1, I would have no idea how to implement it.
  • We have already failed with Proposal #2

Edit: Evidently, my response was so embarassing to the subject that he deleted all references to his proposals. Or perhaps the forum "lost" a message ...

But NOT ignoring can be quite funny.
I sometimes keep a score:
Attila the Hun 0 - Forum Members 2, and such.

Yes, but there's that old newsgroup adage:
"Don't feed the trolls and they may go away."

Of course, we could ask Eric to track IP addresses... I have tools that will allow us to track 'em down...  And contacts with service providers (insert evil laugh here)... RADIUS logs are not that hard to read (insert another evil laugh here)...

No one is ever truly anonymous!

Eric shouldn't have to do ANY of that stuff, though.
If we all knew how to behave properly, he could focus on making a notation program...

A NoteWorthy user's decrying,
"Illiteracy is most trying!"
But tracking the hosts
Of anonymous posts,
Is a discipline rather like spying.

I'm not saying we should do it, just reminding people that it could be done...

Anonymity is a myth...

Posts such as these are, for the most part, juvenile and sophomoric efforts by incompetent posters to get attention/respect that they are unable to gain through their work or talents.  We should pity the poor empty souls who post trash for such purposes, but I, for one, cannot even feel pity for them.

The ultimate disdain is to not care a whit, one way or the other, what such people post and this is exactly how I feel.  These folks bother me no more than one who stands on a street corner during a rainstorm and tries to count the raindrops while I am inside, warm and dry, working happily with NWC on my computer.  Personally, I just don't give a rip what they post.

Their pitiful lives are their problem--not mine

But without them we would have missed two creative 'Rick R Lim' s!
Well done Rick!
