General Discussion / Boxmarks don't work properly on my laptop computers
My desktop computer (WinXP) was hit by a number of viruses and I was forced to use my laptops to continue working in NoteWorthy. Both of my laptops are ACERs, one with Win7, the other with WinXP. I was editing some songs created on my desktop, where I had to make changes to multiple rests using BOXMARKS, e.g. [9] to show 9 rests. While this command always worked properly on my desktop, it would not produce the correct symbol using either laptop. WHY? I have the boxmarks added to my font list. I haven't tried using any other boxmark symbols.

General Discussion / Re: cresc & decresc hairpins
Thanks, everyone. I should have looked at some of the earlier responses before posting this query. Is there a mention of this "trick" in the manual somewhere?

General Discussion / cresc & decresc hairpins
I've noticed that the default is to place the hairpins below the staves. Is there any way of moving them up or down to get them out of tangling with the note stems? Back in the 1.75 NWC version there was a hairpin font that could be controlled for placement. It would be nice to be able to move these haipins above the staves in certain cases by picking on the hairpin node and dropping it where I want it to be. Any comments?

General Discussion / Re: Aligning rest symbols
Setting up the verse numbers as text entry appears to be the trick. For years now I've shifted the notes to fall in line with the words. It was a good idea at the time but lately other issues appeared like rest symbol alignment. I believe this will cure a lot of ills. Thanks!

General Discussion / Aligning rest symbols
This problem usually shows up at the beginning of a song. I do a lot of transcribing from handwritten music, writing each voice in a separate staff (TTBB). Setting up the lyrics to have the first word properly sit under the first note I add extra spaces to the first note to compensate for verse numbers. Some songs start with rests in the 2nd tenor, baritone and bass voices. There is no way I have found on how to add spaces in front of a rest symbol to align it under the moved first note. I know this is a cosmetic thing but it bugs me.

General Discussion / Doublets
Will this item be addressed in the near future and the doublet feature be added onto the toolbar? I ran across doublets in some handwritten manuscripts and tried to find a way to write them. The piece is in 6/8 time. I just stumbled into dotted-eighth, dotted-eighth which covered what I was after. I think someone is going to question the rationale of this, what do I answer?

General Discussion / Transition interludes where keys change from one key to another
I do a lot of work transcribing handwritten music into NWC files. Right now I have a waltz (3/4 time, 3 verses) that moves from Cm to Dm to Gm. The male choir version has no transitions at these points. I found an old version of an accompaniment for this song but it is in the key of Gm. So far I've been able to convert the accompaniment into Cm and Dm, and join them together. I lack the expertise in writing transitions where keys change. There is an 8-bar intro at the beginning of the song but I feel it's too long to use as an interlude. A 4-bar transition would be fine.

General Discussion / Transposing problem
A few days ago I ran across a situation where I had to transpose a piece from C to Eb. Every time I tried using the transpose command, all it did was leave the key in C but added all the flats throughout the piece rather than change the signature to 3 flats. I found that if I added a G-natural signature to the C version and then did the transposition, it worked automatically. Can anyone tell me why this is? I was quite surprised to say the least.

General Discussion / Aligning rests
I ran into a problem when having to add a couple of extra spaces before a note to properly align the word below it. I put the verse number in using: 1._Begin Verse and moved the note above the first word by putting in a couple of blanks. That's fine if it's always a note, but sometimes there is a rest in another staff. There is no way I can figure out to move that rest to sit under the note in the staff above it, or even if you do layering that rest cannot be aligned under the note above it. I don't know if I've explained my predicament clearly enough.

General Discussion / Song titles on subsequent pages
I've tried the suggestion that once you figure where the page breaks are, you can use the "X" command and set the title to print above the first bar on the page. This works quite well but it's a hassle when you change font sizes or some other parameters. That's when the titles end up wherever. My suggestion would be to add a feature that would automatically write the song title just before the page number. It can't be that difficult to incorporate. It might look something like:                                    Song Name..... 2
at the top of the page. A switch to turn the feature on or off can easily be incorporated.

General Discussion / Rests -- alignment (NWC ver 1.75d)
If I number my verses, I usually shift the first note 2 or 3 spaces to the right so that the first syllable of the text falls under the first note. The problem arises when I happen to have a rest in another clef and try to align it under the first note. There's no way I can do it or at least, I haven't found a way to do it. My printout looks silly with the first rest being way over to the left.
