Input via Midi Keyboard and AWE64 Sound Card

Can anyone help with my little problem. Have just hooked up
a Roland ep7IIe keyboard connected via a AWE64 sound card
so I can use the Noteworthy record function etc to input
notes into the staff...

Well, I get notes on the noteworthy staff when the keyboard
is played but they are not the same as played on the
keyboard ! Some are wrong note, some seem to be missed or
combined into a chord when single notes were played.

Everything seems to be setup ok, must have missed something
Can anyone help !

This sounds suspiciously like a setup problem or hardware fault, but more details are needed before I can confirm this. What happens when you enter notes in step time (ie. via the "MIDI Input Active" mechanism, rather than through "Record")? If the same unusual behaviour is exhibited, this indicates a setup or hardware problem. If, on the other hand, step entry works fine, then you may need to set your import options to better match your keyboard chops.

When I use MIDI Input Active, the notes come up on the staff
but it is as I described the notes are not correct. Thought
that there may be a few people who have setup a Creative
AWE64 card for midi input (and hopefully using with Noteworthy) ?
Tools/Options/Record Tab setup shows:
Input Device : AWE64 MIDI In[330]
MIDO Through/Echo is not selected
Tools/Options/MIDI Tab setup has Port Usage Always

OR could it be on the Roland Digital Piano end ?

Any ideas/hints would be appreciated.

I've run into the same prob w/ a yamaha kbd. Also have the prob w/ other sequencing progs. I think it's some kind of a driver prob, though I haven't located any info about it.

Forget my problem, I found that I had a flakey cable
or the wrong type of cable. Now I have a good cable..
no worries !

I keep getting weird output. A half note will show up as a bunch of dotted eighth notes with ties, for instance.

I hooked up a Yamaha Keyboard to my AWE64 Soundcard. The soundcard works all fine but I can't find a driver for my Keyboard.
When I installed Cakewalk I got a driver for the virtual piano which works fine.
Does somebody know where I get this driver or how it is called, just in case it's
somewhere in the system already.

I've got exactly the same problen with a MIDIPRO keyboard and AWE64/Yamaha SW60XG running Cakewalk (or anything else) MIDI input is always detected on a keypress, but the octave/pitch of the notes is completely random! I've tried several cables and 2 other keyboards with same result. It used to work just fine!! HELP!!!!! The chaps at ResRocket are starting to thing I'm taking a bit too much musicians lubruicant!

Please ignore my problem above.

I've just discovered that (for some unknown reason) the resource settings for the SB card were wrong. If you're having a similar problem, go to device manager (c.panel>system>device manager tab) select sound video + game controllers and click on Creative AWE 64 (SB 16 compatible))In the resources setting, choose the Input/output range with a value of 301-whatever (I think) and change it to 330-331. Everything works just fine after this. I don't really understand how I got any sound at all with a setting not=330, but thats how it was!

How do I interface my Yammy sy85, AWE64 and Cubasis Audio
together so that they can all 'talk' to each other. I've no
problems composing with Cubasis via the AWE control, however,
the compositions i've made on the sy85, I am unable to
transfer to the cubassis programme. Has someone been able to
remedy this problem ?

can i connect an external keyboard to AWE64 joystick port,
without a midi adapter?

Well, actually you can, if you're electronically inclined. There are projects for this all over the net. The circuit is relatively simple, involving an optocoupler, a transistor, and a few resistors and capacitors.

That being said, I have to agree that the far easier method is to buy a cable already made up. (And that's coming from an electronicist by trade.)

I have a yamaha keybord and i hooked it to the game port thru MIDI cable yet when running cakewalk I dont get any midi input devices and I cant choose to run the midi thru my keyboard.
