No pedal marks

I'm unable to import pedal marks, no matter if the relevant checkbox is checked or not.
Did I overlook something or it's a bug?

Well I just exported a NoteWorthy file containing pedal marks using NoteWorthy. I then imported it with the "notate pedal marks" selected it imported correctly with the same pedal marks I had originally created.

Are you sure that pedal marks are in the file that you are importing?

Rick, do not cheat!
When do you see a piano score with just one staff? :-)

Out of joke, please try with a two staves score.

Hi Mauritzio,

Seemed to work OK for me. The obvious difference was that the pedal up mark was moved to the other side of the bar line.

That's odd.

Let me restart from the beginning.

  • Open the NWCtext of my previous message in NWC.
  • Export as MIDI.
  • Import MIDI.

No trace of pedal marks, no matter what the check box says.

By the way: in the exported (MIDI) file the pedal commands are present.
And, of course, the problem is present even importing non-NWC MIDI files.

Just a bit more detail !

Took your NWC Text. Saved it using a text processor.
Opened in NWC.
Exported as midi to text.mid (type 1 midi file)
Imported with given options except that I switched on Notate Pedal Marks.
Left all other options the same.
File imported with pedal maks (but pedal up was after a bar line added after the first bar.

Hardly surprising since MIDI has no barlines (at best they can be inferred from the TimeSig). Same thing happens if you Audit Bar Lines.

A (non) wizard problem?

When importing MIDI, NWC opens the wizard and, if I check the "notate pedal", the pedal marks appear.

If I drop the MIDI file in NWC or "open with NWC", the pedal marks are always missing no matter what I selected in the Import->Notate options tab.

N.B. I'm aware of the "Use Import Wizard on Open" check box, but I don't like to have to confirm every time the default options so it's unchecked.

Confirmed. The bug goes back to NWC 2.0
I no longer have NWC 1.75 installed so I can't check it.

Without the Wizard, NWC seems to use its own defaults for Notate Options , but observes the settings in Track Splitting Options.

The "Wide:Y" just comes from the "Preserve Width" box being checked.
