Transparent bar line

Just wondering: what's the difference between an invisible but "standard" bar line and a "transparent" one?
Or, if you prefer, what's a "transparent bar line" good for?

Uhm... perhaps I found a difference: the transparent one is completely invisible also in the editor.
A good trigger for a lot of nasty things to say to my computer.  ::)
The only way to detect it's presence is throught the bar counter. Unless you exlude it from the bar count, that is...  ;)

Not the only way, and not even the best way.
To find transparent bar lines for staves that are not tagged: 'Visible:N', Press Ctrl+F and paste the following in the 'Find what' field:
Code: [Select · Download]
|Bar|Style:Transparent

As of Beta Pre 35, it is recommended that you use a transparent bar line after the boundary change gap width. This will allow:

  • a system change immediately after the gap width
  • the bar line to orphan at the end of a system and not be visible

The system connection will no longer be shown when the gap width is at the end of the staff.
I have not tested the validity of NoteWorthy's advice, I merely report it.

Well, of course once you suspect it can be there then you can use "find".
But first you must have a hint of its presence.

Thanks Rick, this looks like what I was looking for.
I mean: this was what I was looking for before I was puzzled by the "transparent bar"!

Well, that is not my experience. I use find often. I've not noticed that it checks my suspicions. What version of NWC are you using?  :)

Sorry Rick, I missed your point. (Bed time here...)
What do you mean?

The emoticon tells me this is not a serious question, but anyway: 2.75.
