Modifying properties of a tied note 2008-05-20 01:52 pm I am setting music in three staves without layering. In the middle bass clefstaff I have entered the following, where the negative numbers indicate numberof semitomes below middle C, and all notes are quarter notes unless indicatedotherwise: chord A(-3). E(-8); note B flat(-2); chord B natural (-1), E(-8),where the E is a half note and tied to the previous E; and note B flat(-2). Inow want to chenge the first E to the more proper half note and leaveeverything else the same, but I an unable to do so. Is there a simplesequence of keyboard entries and mouse clicks which will will succeed? I'mguessing that adding another staff and using layering might work, but I don'tneed layering anywhere alse. A related question: is it possible to select asingle note of a chord and then modify its properties? Thanks for your help.-- George Leeman Quote Selected
Re: Modifying properties of a tied note Reply #1 – 2008-05-20 04:03 pm You can do this without layering, but you will have to erase the quarter-note E in the first chord (<cntrl><backspace>) and replace it with a half-note E (<cntrl><enter>). Set the attributes of the new note (half note, tied to the next note) before you enter it. NWC does not allow the selection of individual notes in a chord, so you can't change a chord note's attributes after it's been entered. Quote Selected
