Hassles with song playing extra notes.

I have a number of songs the measure taking up a the whole time for that measure, in this case a B flat on the treble clef.
I currently get 2 notes of half the time I need. The song I am working on is 6/8 time, and at the ends of some lines the
1 note carries the whole 6 beats. The notes are shown as 2 dotted quarters with the slur between them. There is nothing to
slur because they don't change. What does it take to get these to sound as 1 note for 6 beats? Am I doing something wrong
or is there a bug in the program?

Thank you for any help you can offer. I copied the notes on the measure and pasted the image here, if it is of any value.
