Most likely intended to mean tenuto.  With the accent, it would be more commonly written as

Your guess is as good as mine.  The piece is so slow, though, that tenuto makes sense if the composer thought someone would play an accented note short.

Tenuto is right. I sometimes even write that down in my own scores, if our MD stresses that a note should be held.

What ensemble? Not wanting to disappoint you, but the answer is 'none'. I sing. I can sing either bass or tenor, and quite a high tenor, at that. I am going to do the tenor solo parts of the Armenian Oratory, in April and May. My first real solo performances - although I have had roles in amateur musicals, including Jesus Christ Superstar.
I am also quite good at teaching my fellow men their notes.
But... I do not play a single instrument! I only play my laptop, armed with Noteworthy.

I could see from your reference to MD in Reply 4 that you were part of a group, but stuck in the instrumental word, I never thought of choral ensembles.

Ai-yi-yi!  How limited my vision is at times.

It's a bit my 'fault'.
I interfere with everything, and you have seen me at work on symphonies. Is it less than logical that you want to know which part I play? Well, my voice is my instrument - so I have been told repeatedly, so much that I have come to believe it.
