Deleting Tip of the Day - computer freezes

When I open NWC 1.75b and click to close Tip of the Day, SOMETIMES the computer freezes. Ctrl + Alt + Del does nothing and I have to reboot. Is there a way to prevent Tip of the Day appearing upon opening NWC?

In Tip Of The Day there is a checkbox "Show at startup" which is checked by default.  Uncheck the box and Tips should not show up again unless you get to them through Help.
