Unseen, Unused Staff

I was wondering if there is some possible method to do the following?...

Looking at professional prints of scores for orchestra,  Ive noticed that the first page of the piece has all the staffs showing, (to let the conductor know what instruments are in the piece), and then on the next page of the score, for example if double bass, viola, bassoon annd flute are the only ones playing, their staffs are the only ones visible, and untill other instruments come in, are their staffs shown. This would be grat to eliminate the look of hundreds of empty staffs. Any ideas?

NWC1.75 doesn't do that, directly. It is a popular wish-list request.

What you can do, if you "need it now," is take advantage of the WMF export capability. In NWC, using Print preview, "copy" each page of the music to a placeable metafile. (This is done on a page-by page basis).

You can place the WMFs into a program such as MS Word (maybe even MS Works). There, you can crop anything you don't want visible. You can place several WMFs on a single page, as long as you crop them to fit.

That would be very tedious for a long score with many instruments. But for a short, simple score (say, a song with voice and piano) it is practical.

Once you have the WMFs into a document, you can add text. artwork, or whatever you like.
