Help! I cant see!

I'm working on my first string quartet, and when writing for the first violin, the high notes disappear up in the tool-bar. What can I do to move all four staves just a bit down on my screen, so I can see what I'm writing. I know that Beethoven was deaf, but I'm (partly) blind, and it is not making it any easier. Is there anyone out there who can help me?

Have you tried increasing the verticle size of the staff?

Find it under Staff, Staff Properties. Click on Visual and adjust the Upper Verticle Size

An even quicker way to do this is to click on the 1st violin part (or whatever your top staff is) and then press F2. This will bring up the staff properties window. Then procede as stated in the previous post. This technique is also helpful if you feel your staves are running to close together. I generally adjust upper and/or lower depending on the layout. You can also use this technique to adjust placement for printout (i.e. add vertical height to staves to fill out a full page).

If you care about the printout you should reduce the lower Vertical Size of the bottom staff by the same amount you increased the upper staff.

It would be nicer if the top of the viewing area on the screen was the set to the highest object on the top staff when that is above the top of the staff region. Something to wish for. Then you could see everything without messing with the printout. I often have this problem.

By the way, if you have trouble seeing, there is a zoom option on the View menu and the toolbar.
