MDA to MIDI file format

Hi,
Anybody know how to convert a .MDA (yamaha clavinova) file to MIDI so I can import it into Noteworthy?

Not familiar with that format, but if you'll email me a short sample, I'll have a look at it and see if something can be done. It may be a standard midi file with a header, or something like that.

I had a look at the files you sent, and they don't look even remotely like standard midi files. I've also searched the web for conversion utilities, to no avail. However, all is not lost; it just means that you have to take a hardware approach.

I've successfully done this with drum tracks programmed into an ancient Korg drum machine; if it work with that, it should certainly work with your Clavinova.

You'll need a cable to connect from your soundcard joystick port to the "midi out" connector on your Clavinova. Such adaptor cables are readily available at most music stores or computer stores, usually around $20 or so.

Then, you'll need to set your midi in on your computer to be the "MPU-401" joystick port input. The idea is to record into your computer while the Clavinova is playing the MDA file. NoteWorthy can do this -- with only one drawback; it doesn't allow midi synchronisation. When I did it, I used Cubase (which does allow midi sync), exported the result to midi, and re-imported into NoteWorthy.
