Copying sections and inserting them

I have a composiotion with 5 verses which are not duplicates of each other note wise.
I have a repeated refrain which I am trying to insert between the verses. I highlight the refrain and select copy, then attempt to paste it inbetween verses. No luck, it does not paste.

I need more details. When you copy, is the menu Copy item enabled (not gray)? Assuming you paste somewhere in the staff, is the Paste menu item enabled?

I highlight the passage I want to copy and using the mouse , press copy.
I then go to the insert point and attempt to paste. Nothing is grayed out.
The editor thinks I've done the paste (it lets me undo) but nothing appears on the screen.
1. It also would be handy to be able to copy the three staves involved. I am using the piano score with vocal accompaniment.

Dumb old me. Iwas trying to copy the vocal line with the lyrics.
I took out the lyrics and did my copying.
I then added the lyrics and all is well.
I still would like to copyy more the one staff at a time.
