Re: Is there any way to add acciaccaturas ..? Reply #1 – 1997-02-17 05:00 am Jehan, Currently there is no neat way to do acciacaturas, appogiaturas, turns or trills in NWC, though many people are hoping... :-) One work around is to "hard code" it, that is enter the notes EXACTLY AS THEY ARE TO BE PLAYED. This often involves halving and then dotting or double dotting the fundamental notes to make enough space for the ornament to be played. (So an quaver may become a dotted semiquaver with a preceding ornamental note). After a while, this becomes fairly easy as you work out what sounds good. Another method which makes for better printouts is to put the ornaments on a separate staff and then hide that staff when printing. Directions for performers can be made in English (eg. tr.), or using tildes (for turns) or W's for mordants. This probably wasn't the answer you were looking for... :-) Andrew Quote Selected
Re: Is there any way to add acciaccaturas ..? Reply #2 – 1997-02-17 05:00 am I've just found another way for making trills. You can use a Multi-point Controller {mpc} for pitch bend.Let's take an example. You want a trill on a C note (duration: Half), that sounds thus:- a D for the duration of an Eighth- a C for the duration of a Sixteenth- a B for the duration of a Sixteenth- a C for the rest of the noteJust before the note, insert a Multi-point Controller.Choose "Pitch Bend" for the controller type, "Absolute" for the style,"Sixteenth" for the time offset multiplier. Then activate each settings, with following values:- Initial: Time offset = 0, Controller value = 8191- Setting 2: Time offset = 2, Controller value = 0- Setting 3: Time offset = 1, Controller value = -4096- Setting 4: Time offset = 1, Controller value = 0If you need more settings, I suppose that you can use more than one{mpc}, but I didn't tried it.This was for "sounding" the note ok. For a correct printing, simplyadd a ~ character using the text insertion.Since this feature already exists with {mpc}, maybe a real "trill"command could be easily implemented in a next version of NoteWorthyComposer ? Re: Is there any way to add acciaccaturas ..? Reply #3 – 1997-02-17 05:00 am This is brilliantly simple! It works superbly for guitar hammer-on, and sounds okay for organ and harpsichord. I'm afraid it still doesn't sound quite right on piano, but the neatness and "copyability" of this effect could well outweigh this little problem. Bon pense, Olivier! (or is that bonne?) Re: Is there any way to add acciaccaturas ..? Reply #5 – 1998-02-28 05:00 am I would too, though not as much as I used to (I'm working on different musical genres at the moment). We can implement them with special text characters (a bit fiddly, but once you've got them all set up in a "pallette" file, yu can just copy and paste). They can also then be implemented in a hidden staff exactly as you want them played. That's the best us users can do for now.Andrew Quote Selected
