stems & dynamics run together

The stems of some of my notes extend below the staff, and when I try to put in a dynamic, NWC sets it right under the staff so it overlaps the stems. How can I put the dynamics in a lower position so it's under the stems and not overlapping them?

Highlight the dynamic (drag & drop is one way), press Cntrl/E, then modify Staff Placement as appropriate.

... or select the dynamic, and use CNTL-SHIFT cursor UP/DOWN to move it as desired.
