Changing Duration on MIDI? 2002-09-17 02:18 am I'm not exactly sure how to change a duration on a MIDI (using a keyboard). When you play the keyboard at different speeds, does it attomattically change note durations? Is there a way to set this up? Or do you have to chang eit manually? Thanks for any help! Quote Selected
Re: Changing Duration on MIDI? Reply #1 – 2002-09-17 06:42 pm I think you'll find the Noteworthy Help materials to be very useful for these types of questions. I encourage you to look them over.General responses. If you are playing in "real time", then Noteworthy (or any sequencing program) will reflect the duration of the notes as played. There is also a "step entry" option, wherein you select a note of a given duration and then play a key on the keyboard (or hit enter on the typewriter keyboard). You can also select the various notes (quarter, half, whole, dotted, non-dotted) via mouse or keyboard.Hopefully, that will help to get you going. Re: Changing Duration on MIDI? Reply #2 – 2002-09-17 08:32 pm So how do I turn "real time" on? The computer instructions get to technical (I am not exactly a computer wizard). I have the free download, if that males a difference. Quote Selected
Re: Changing Duration on MIDI? Reply #3 – 2002-09-17 10:08 pm I am not sure what the evaluation version of Noteworthy offers if that is what you have. However, for starters, if you open a "new" file, make sure the "keyboard" icon towards the top is active, you can then hit the record button and begin to play. There are various things that need to be done in advance, such as making sure your card and device are working and set up correctly. Typically, it is also helpful to set up a metronome track in Noteworthy (I think you can find one for experimenting under the "new" templates for rhythms; otherwise simply create your own by entering the required notes with an appropriate repeat).Go to the Noteworthy help menu and type in "record". That should get you on your way. On some of the more techhie stuff such as configuring your multimedia properties (if needed), you may want to enlist a friend to take you through the "hands on".
