WAV files are MUCH bigger than MIDI files, and to turn NWC files into MIDI files, go to "Save As", and on the drop-down for the file type, select "Type 1 MIDI file".

What I do is open the .NWC file then reduce the page
to half-size using the "restore" button. Then I open
the program "Wave Studio" which comes with the Sound
Blaster and reduce that on size - so I can see both
programmes on the screen at once. Then just hit "record"
on the Wave Studio and "PLay" on Noteworthy and BINGO.
Make sure your mike is turned OFF or you'll pick up
extraneous noises like passing cars and dogs barking.
Note - a 256k Nwc file turns into a 200 MEGABYTE .wav file.
You have been warned.

Just to be a little more precise about the resulting wav file size: at 44,100 Hz, 16-bit, stereo (the format for recording to CD), it works out to about 10 megs per minute. So that "256k" NWC file must have run about 20 minutes to create a 200 meg wav file.

Converting to mp3 (at 128kbps, stereo) shrinks that back down to about 1 meg per minute (a 10:1 compression).
