staff properties

Thank you all for previous help with NWC.  I never can seem to find anwers to my problems in the HELP section.
I am getting ready to purchase this software (over MusicTimeDeluxe) but am still having some problems and questions.

Now I have tried adding another staff to put two songs on one page...I tired to set the staff properties to Piano score, but to no avail..I only get one line of staff connected to the first piano staff..also, I can't find out what "lower and upper grand staff and standard" actually mean..  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You can't get two songs in one page in NWC, but for printing, a work around is to write each song in a separate file, and in the page set up, fiddle with the margins so one is at the top of a page and the other is in the bottom part.  You would have to feed the paper through your printer twice.

Another way to do it in Windows is to create images of the print preview window from each song file.

Use alt-printscreen to create a bmp file to paste into a word processing file, one above the other.  Alt-printscreen captures the entire window, so you may find it better to paste to an image editor first, trim off the borders, save in gif or jpg format, then paste the result to the w-p file.

Upper and lower grand staffs are normally used for left and right hand piano staffs.  They just show a fancy brace at the left end of the staff and the bar lines connect the two staffs.

"Standard" is just a regular staff with bar lines that don't extend above or below the staff.  "Orchestral" draws bar lines from one staff to the next, which is good for printing scores (and provides a good visual check of bar lengths in the edit window).

If you have instrumental groups, you'd set all the winds and strings to orchestral, reeds to orchestral.  To give visual separation between the groups, just add a layered blank staff at the top of each group, and set its attributes to Ending Bar - Open and style Standard.

I forgot to mention, if you go to the main Noteworthy webpage, you'll see a link for usertips. Most solutions can be found there.
