You need:

(1) A MIDI-compatible port on your computer. Some joysticks have MIDI-compatible connectors. But many (most?) computers do not have a built-in MIDI-compatible port. You probably need to buy something that allows you to connect the MIDI cables to your computer. Whatever you buy should come with its own software for driving the connection.

(2) Once you establish the connection between your computer and your MIDI keyboard, you will need software that allows you to capture the MIDI, and process it. Noteworthy Composer is one such program. Professional electronic musicians use software with very detailed MIDI manipulation capability, but you don't need it.
