Annoying Rogue Note

When I press F5 to start playing, sometimes another note, a "Rogue Note (RN)" starts and keeps going. I've found that replaying the piece eventually (perhaps after one or two bars) stops the RN. Pressing F6 whilst the score is playing only occasionally stops the RN.

Pressing F6 again might stop the RN but often changes the RN note to a lower note. Once that happens, pressing F6 never stops the RN. I have to go to the top of the loop and try again.

Sometimes the only way to stop it is to exit and restart NW.

I also have the visual and sound mismatch between the notes - usually with notes of smaller duration - so, as suggested in the FAQ, I've changed the colour of the playing note to be the same as the score.

Sometimes the note stops by itself after one or two bars.

The sound card is on the mother board. I was going to try my old 32 SoundBlaster card but it's the wrong bus.

Any ideas?

I have email'd support but I thought I'd try the forum as well

This sounds like a misbehaving driver.

These are often the ones that misbehave.
