Strange bug in 1.70

My latest song (which newsgroup users will remember: "3-D Suite in A-Flat") has a minor printout problem when I make the trumpet-only part (I wouldn't want a trumpet player to read off a piano score :) ). I worked around it by just getting rid of the Mod Wheel MPCs (and no, I haven't done testing to see if every MPC causes this), since this version is for printing and not playing, but here's the setup.

A barline ends the measure. The first entry in the next measure is a Mod Wheel MPC to simulate vibrato. The note that is to be vibratoed follows. On Print Preview and the actual printout, the note that has the vibrato is squished much closer to the barline than all the other notes that begin measures that do not have Mod Wheel MPCs.

As I said, I worked around it, but I still thought I should submit it. :) I've got an example file, if you need it to further understand.

Yes, I've found that problem also. Anything between the barline and the first note (even if it's invisible) will cause that squishing effect. Like you, I work around it by adding a couple text spaces with Preserve Width On.

That problem (and no, I don't think it's unfair to call it a bug) started with one of the betas, in which items were compressed together more in answer to user requests.

My concern is not so much having to use a workaround per se, but what will happen with files that have the extra padding if/when the problem gets corrected.

I like this bug.

I'll have to figure out something invisible I can insert in each measure to squeeze out all that extra white space...
